Juma Ayubu Mohamedi is a pharmacist, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmacy Practice at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), Tanzania, and a PhD researcher in Pharmacometrics at KU Leuven, Belgium. He obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree from MUHAS in 2016 and was registered as a pharmacist by the Pharmacy Council of Tanzania in 2017. He earned a Master of Pharmacy in Industrial Pharmacy from MUHAS in 2020. During his master's studies, he was selected as an exchange student at the University of Bergen, Norway, in 2019, where he received specialized training in pharmaceutical formulation development.
As part of his doctoral training, in 2026 Juma completed a research internship at Novartis in Basel, Switzerland, where he developed a unified workflow for concentration–QTc (C-QTc) modeling of oncology drugs using Monolix and R. His work focused on streamlining cardiac safety assessments for both approved and investigational drugs by integrating pharmacometric modeling with reproducible data analysis workflows.
His research focuses on pharmacometrics, model-informed precision dosing (MIPD), therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), and population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling to optimize drug therapy and improve patient outcomes. His work has contributed to research in sickle cell disease and biologic therapies, with broader interests in infectious diseases, oncology, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), cardiac safety assessment using concentration–QTc (C-QTc) modeling, and precision medicine.
He is passionate about translating quantitative pharmacology into clinical practice and drug development through interdisciplinary collaboration with clinicians and researchers. His long-term goal is to advance precision medicine by applying pharmacometric approaches to support individualized drug therapy, optimize antimicrobial and anticancer treatment, and strengthen healthcare systems in Tanzania and globally.
