I am a Professor in Paediatric Dentistry working at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, at the School of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics Paedodontics and Community Dentistry. I graduated with DDS and MSc at the University of Dar es Salaam Tanzania and holds a PhD in Dental Traumatology from the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. During my teaching carrier for 40 years, I have supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research. My research work is primarily on children and adolescents’ oral health (diseases and conditions, specifically; management of child behaviour in the dental clinic settings; Knowledge and practices of parents and teachers regrading children’s oral health; Traditional beliefs and harmful practices; Children and Adolescent’ knowledge, behaviour and practices) and other oral health issues. I have also worked on best management practices of dental amalgam and promoting the use of alternative dental materials. I have edited two books and written several book chapters. I have served as Editor-in-Chief of Tanzania Dental Journal and a member of editorial board of various professional journals. Recently I have been appointed a Chairperson of The Medical Council of Tanganyika since April 2026. I am a member of Tanzania Dental Association, Federation of Dentaire Internationale, Medical Association of Tanzania, Medical Women Association of Tanzania and is a fellow of Tanzania Academy of Sciences (TAAS).
