His research focuses on strengthening health systems and improving the quality, safety, and effectiveness of healthcare services in low- and middle-income settings. His work spans infectious diseases, immunization systems, antimicrobial stewardship, and health service delivery, with an emphasis on evidence-based strategies that improve patient outcomes and health system performance.
His broader research integrates qualitative and quantitative methods with modelling approaches, including system dynamics, agent-based modelling, discrete event simulation, and geographic information systems. More recently, he has focused on integrating systems thinking and implementation science to evaluate health interventions and support the development of effective, sustainable, and scalable health policies.
His work includes collaborations with government agencies, academic institutions, and national and international health organizations involved in health systems strengthening, disease control, immunization, and pharmaceutical systems. These collaborations have included the Ministry of Health in Tanzania and global partners such as UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), Jhpiego, and John Snow, Inc. (JSI).
