BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Azama Hamis Kassanga is a Tutorial Assistant in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the School of Dentistry, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS). She is a dedicated dentist with a strong interest in restorative dentistry, dental education, research, and community oral health. Prior to joining MUHAS, she spent three years in private practice, where she gained extensive experience in comprehensive patient care and restorative dental treatment.
In addition to her academic and clinical work, Dr. Kassanga has experience in healthcare project management and professional event coordination, having played a key role in organizing the Tanzania Dental Expo. She is passionate about mentoring future dental professionals, advancing oral health in Tanzania, and promoting innovation within the dental profession. Her contributions to research, leadership, and professional development have been recognized through several academic and professional awards.

My research interests include restorative dentistry, endodontics, dental innovation, digital health technologies, healthcare management systems, and oral health promotion. I am particularly interested in developing innovative, technology-driven solutions that improve patient care, strengthen dental education, and enhance the efficiency of oral healthcare delivery.
As an early-career academic, I am eager to build my research experience through collaborative projects, interdisciplinary research, and scientific inquiry that addresses oral health challenges in Tanzania. I aspire to contribute to research that advances evidence-based dentistry while promoting innovation and the integration of technology into dental practice and healthcare systems.
