On 20th February 2025, The Acting MUHAS Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bruno Sunguya together with Prof. Jennifer Connor from the Institute for Sexual and Gender Health at University of Minnesota (UMN) and Dr. Agness Massae from School of Nursing at MUHAS had a Introduction meeting of a five-year project on Training Healthcare Professionals to address the healthcare needs of women experienced Female Genital Mutilation in Tanzania, focusing on Curriculum Build, implementation as well as evaluation.
This study is a collaboration between MUHAS and the University of Minnesota and is funded through National Institute of Health and Dr. Agness Massae from School Of Nursing and Prof. Jennifer Connor from Institute of Health lead the study.
MUHAS and UMN have partnered with the School of Nursing for nearly eight years on four projects primarily focused on Sexual and Reproductive health, female genital mutilation affects girls and women throughout the project. This project aims to develop training materials to the needs of health care providers within Tanzania as well as to deliver a pilot training program here at MUHAS.
In this meeting the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bruno Sunguya congratulated the team for the good work and urged them to work as the team to create more innovation ideas, to publish more publications so that the impact issues can be shared to the society. He also added that MUHAS management is ready to support them if they need assistance during the study.
This meeting took place on 20th February 2025 at Vice Chancellors Office attended by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bruno Sunguya, Dr. Agness Massae from School of Nursing, MUHAS, Prof. Jennifer Connor from University of Minnesota as well as Prof. Crista Agbakwu from Umass Chan Medical School.
