The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) and the College of Business Education (CBE) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in education, research, and community engagement.
The agreement establishes a framework for interdisciplinary cooperation between the two institutions, recognizing the mutual benefits of combining expertise in health sciences and business. Under the MoU, MUHAS and CBE will work together on initiatives that include joint research proposal development, metrology programs, short courses, capacity building, student exchange programs, and the integration of technology in learning.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, MUHAS Vice Chancellor, Prof. Appolinary Kamuhabwa, expressed his satisfaction at reaching this milestone. He noted that the collaboration will add value to both institutions in training, research, and service delivery. “For this MoU to become fully operational, both institutions must identify areas of mutual benefit and take deliberate steps to implement them,” he emphasized.
On her part, CBE Rector, Prof. Edda T. Lwoga, described the event as a homecoming, noting that she spent eight years at MUHAS, an experience she credits for shaping her leadership today. She highlighted the key areas of interest that CBE is eager to pursue through the partnership, underscoring the potential impact on students and faculty from both sides.
The signing ceremony was held at MUHAS on 27th August, 2025 and was also witnessed by MUHAS Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic, Prof. Emmanuel Balandya; MUHAS Deputy Vice Chancellor – Research and Consultancy, Prof. Bruno Sunguya; CBE Deputy Rector – Academic, Prof. Roborth Mashenene; and Acting Coordinator of the CBE Internationalization Unit, Dr. Nyakeko Francis Isezo.
