On January 4, 2025, The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) team met with the Kigoma Regional Technical Team at the Regional Administrative Secretary’s (RAS) office to discuss the progress of the construction of the MUHAS Kigoma Campus under HEET project.
The meeting was chaired by Acting Regional Health Officer Kedrick Mlokozi and brought together key stakeholders to enhance collaboration and ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
In this meeting, Dr. Hussein Mohamed, a focal person for environment, health and safety portfolio of the MUHAS HEET project, expressed gratitude to participants for their time and commitment. He highlighted the importance of community engagement in fostering ownership of the project among stakeholders.
He further said that this meeting aimed to provide updates on the construction progress and discuss the roles of various authorities, including the police, TARURA, TANESCO, KUWASA, environmental and land management officers, engineers, and social welfare representatives during construction of the Kigoma campus.
Dr. Mohamed called on the respective authorities to provide timely support for the ongoing construction of the Kigoma campus. He emphasized that prompt responses to service requests would help prevent unnecessary delays.
Providing a detailed update on the construction, the Project Manager Eng. Ibrahim Muhsini presented the status of the work and outlined the types of buildings being developed at the site.
Moreover, Dr. Emmy Meta, a Social Impact Assessment Focal Person of the MUHAS HEET Project, reinforced the importance of community involvement. She commended the Kigoma regional leadership and technical team for their collaboration and urged continued support, noting that the new campus would bring significant educational, economic, and social benefits to Kigoma and beyond.
During the discussion, stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting MUHAS in achieving the project’s goals. They assured that service requests would be handled without delay and urged MUHAS to maintain clear and timely communication to keep all parties aligned.
