DR. DONG BIAN FROM YANCHENG INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY VISITS MUHAS

On February 3, 2025, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) welcomed Dr. Dong Bian from Yancheng Institute of Technology (YIT), China. His visit marked a significant step in the growing partnership between the two institutions following the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in September 2024.

During his visit, Dr. Bian paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor of MUHAS, Prof. Appolinary Kamuhabwa. He was joined by the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic, Prof. Emmanuel Balandya, the Dean of Dentistry, Dr. Ferdinand Machibya, and the Head of Internationalization and Convocation, Dr. Maryam Amour. Together, they engaged in a productive discussion on strengthening collaboration between MUHAS and YIT, particularly in the areas of training, research, and innovation.

As the coordinator of the MUHAS- YIT Joint Multidisciplinary Additive Manufacturing and Regeneration Laboratory Project, Dr. Bian’s visit underscored the commitment to advancing this initiative. The project aims at establishing a multidisciplinary additive manufacturing and medical regeneration laboratory at the MUHAS School of Dentistry.

In this visit, Dr Bian was able to setup implementation of the dental laboratory 3D printing project at the School of Dentistry, initiate talk for additional collaboration between MUHAS Institute of Traditional Medicine and Chinese Traditional medicine under Yancheng Institute of Technology (YIT) as well as establishment of collaboration between MUHAS School of Pharmacy and Chinese School of Pharmacy under YIT on production of pharmaceutical products.

Beyond academic and research collaborations, the meeting also explored the possibility of making strategic investments at the MUHAS Mloganzila Campus to enhance institutional capacity and infrastructure.

Dr. Bian’s visit reaffirmed the strong ties between MUHAS and YIT, paving the way for impactful collaborations that will benefit both institutions and the broader academic and scientific community.
