MUHAS SCHOOL OF NURSING CONDUCTS CLINICAL PRECEPTORSHIP AND SUPERVISION WORKSHOP

The School of Nursing (SoN) at MUHAS conducted a Clinical Preceptorship and Supervision Workshop from 21–22 May 2026 to strengthen clinical instructors’ competencies in clinical teaching, student assessment, leadership, professionalism, and
clinical supervision.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Acting DVC-A, Prof Enica Richard commended the School of Nursing and the University Management for supporting the initiative. She emphasized the need to fast-track the accreditation of the clinical instructors’ curriculum
for wider adoption across the University, in line with earlier recommendations by Prof Emmanuel Balandya. These remarks were echoed by the Dean School of Nursing, Prof Edith Tarimo during the closing session.
The workshop brought together 20 preceptors from clinical training sites, including Muhimbili National Hospital (Mloganzila and Upanga), Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute, Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute, Ocean Road Cancer Institute, Temeke Regional
Referral Hospital, Amana Regional Referral Hospital, Mbagala Hospital, and Mnazi Mmoja Hospital. Participants described the training as educative and transformative, and recommended that it be conducted annually to further strengthen clinical teaching and supervision
practices.
